Movember Toms

        So I recently had a family member order a pair of shoes from me. She wanted a pair of blue  Toms with a plain mustache on each one. Perfect timing for Movember!

How I did it:
-First I used a white prismacolor pencil to outline the mustaches
-Then I started painting them in with acrylic paint like always
-I applied two coats of paint; the white was a little transparent at first
-Once they were completely dry, I erased what was left of the white pencil

        After I finish painting a pair of shoes I like to have a little photo shoot so that I can have presentable pictures of them. Usually natural light is the best, but I haven't been home during the day the past few days, so I decided to photograph them in a light box. You can find a lot of tutorials for making a light box online, but I really didn't want to build something for a few photos. Instead, I set down a couple sheets of white printer paper on a desk, and a notebook with white sketch paper standing up on it's side behind the shoes that I had set on the 2 sheets of printer paper. And I started shooting!

I really didn't think this cheap paper light box would work, but it worked pretty well!
