DIY Twin Lens Reflex Camera

I've
been looking at cameras to buy on the internet because I've been wanting to experiment with my photography. I found this kit on Amazon and it wasn't that expensive so I thought I'd try it out. I received it today (it only took a couple days to ship) and starting building it right away. At first I was a little intimidated. This is what all the pieces look like at first. The instructions are also a little confusing, but the pictures they provide are really helpful.

This was taken when I was about halfway done. The entire thing took about two hours to make.

This is what it looks like from above when you're taking a picture. I had it focused on a Polaroid camera.

This
is what it looked like at the end. Building it was really fun, even though it took a while and some parts were frustrating to put together. It also gives you a really good understanding of how cameras work. Even if you're not a photographer it's a fun thing to build.

I'm excited to shoot with it to see how the photographs come out. When you take the photograph you see what you're photographing from above the camera and everything is flipped horizontally  which is really strange at first. The kit also comes with a roll of 35 mm color film, which is nice if you don't have access to a place that sells film.

Overall, this was a really fun little project. I haven't shot anything with it yet and I don't expect the results to be great considering it's a really cheap kit, but it'll definitely be interesting using something other than a single lens reflex camera. Once I shoot a roll of film I'll post a few pictures.

Thanks for looking!
